A New Opening

A new opening for Into Storymode and the thinking behind it.

At the beginning of this year, we found ourselves returning to a simple question:

What if games and interactive technology were treated as a medium for storytelling, not just entertainment?

Too often, games are framed around excitement, challenge, or spectacle. Technology is often presented in the same way — as something fast-moving, impressive, or new.

But both games and technology can also hold something else: memory, reflection, lived experience, and meaning.

This space begins from that shift in perspective.

Into Storymode is not just a project, but an ongoing exploration — a way of thinking about how stories can be experienced through interaction. It brings together conversations, practices, and tools that help stories become interactive.

Sometimes that takes the form of talks and events. Sometimes it means workshops, experiments, and shared methods. In the future, it may also take shape through tools and systems that support people in organising and developing stories in new ways.

This website is a place to hold that work.

Here, we want to document and share reflections on narrative-driven game design, playable storytelling, emerging creative workflows, and the evolving relationship between story and interaction.

It is not a finished idea, but an opening — a space that will grow over time, shaped by practice, conversation, and the people who engage with it.

If anything, this is an invitation:

to think about games differently,
to approach technology with intention,
and to explore how stories might become something we can move through, not just observe.
